A little about "Grace"

This painting was a landmark of sorts for me. It was a moment when I realized I was closer to creating not only art that is pleasing to the eye, aesthetically. But, that hopefully conveys to the viewer a feeling that it was created with ease and simplicity, as this is the type of art that truly resonates with me. First of all, I'd like to share that I have, over the last several years been an admirer and follower of Utah's Onaqui Wild Horse herd. And, although I have accumulated somewhere near 20,000+ photos of this herd, the photo I used to create this recent painting came from the first evening I first layed my eyes on these magical animals! It was also close to sundown and the light was fading. So, the shot is actually quite blurry. Still, I felt this painting was to be more about gesture than anything else. And, I believe that was quite visible despite the lack of clarity of the pic. This painting exudes one aspect I have been striving to accomplish in my recent works- A VERY LIMITED PALETTE. For the most part the only two colors used to create this painting were: Ultramarine Blue and Quinacridone Burnt Orange, This being a complimentary color scheme. I nudged the warmer side of this palette sparingly with only small amounts of Raw Sienna.
This painting just recently sold at Park City Fine Art, Park City, Ut.
